Hanging height rules by room (practical)

• Dining table: Set the shades 30-36" (76-91cm) above the tabletop with an 8 ft ceiling; add 3" (7.6cm) per additional foot of ceiling height.
• Kitchen island / counter: Position the shades 32-38" (81-97cm) above the countertop.
• Living room: Keep the shades at least 7 ft (2.13m) above walking areas unless they hang over a table.

Placement tips that prevent common mistakes

• Drop calculation: The hanging height adjusts up to 78.7" (200cm); on an 8 ft (2.4m) ceiling over a table, set the shades about 30-36" (76-91cm) above the surface.
• Shade positioning: Keep the shades within the table footprint so the downlight lands on the surface, not the chairs.
• Even or staggered: Set all straps to the same length for a clean line, or stagger them slightly for a relaxed look; decide before final adjustment.
• Proportion check: Aim for a bar length of about two-thirds of the table or island length.
• Canopy position: Confirm the junction box sits over the table's midpoint.
