By placement:

Hanging height rules by room (practical)

• Stairwell: Keep at least 7 ft (2.13m) of clearance above walking lines and steps. Stagger cylinder heights so the cascade follows the stair direction without crossing the handrail line visually.
• Two-story foyer: Place the lowest cylinder 9-12 ft (2.7-3.7m) above the finished floor, centered in the open volume—verify sightlines from the upstairs landing.
• Round dining table: Set the lowest shade 30-36" (76-91cm) above the tabletop for balanced glow without blocking views.
• High-ceiling living room: Above seating, keep the lowest cylinder 6.5-7.5 ft (2-2.3m) from the floor; raise it near walkways.
