Tivaro comes in two heights that differ in light output and projection. Match the size to the wall area it needs to light and the scale of the door or facade, then choose the color temperature to suit the house style and the other exterior lights.

Size guide (which height do you need):

  • H13.8" (35cm), 1,100 lumens: Single doors, side entries, garage service doors, patio walls, and covered hallways; pairs well on either side of a 36" (91cm) door. Projects 5" (13cm) from the wall.
  • H16.5" (42cm), 1,320 lumens: Double doors, garage fronts, two-story facades, and walls with wide open areas below; reads correctly from the street on larger homes. Projects 6.7" (17cm) from the wall.
  • Pairs and runs: Use the same size along a single wall; mixing heights on one facade reads as an error. For a long fence or patio wall, space the H13.8" (35cm) 8-10 ft (2.4-3m) apart.

Light color guide (which color temperature to choose):

  • Warm White (3000K): The standard choice for homes; flatters brick, stone, stucco, wood siding, and warm paint colors, and matches most porch and landscape lighting. Choose it for front entries, patios, and any wall you see from inside the house.
  • Cool White (6000K): Brighter, daylight-like light for security and visibility; suits garages, side yards, commercial entrances, and modern facades in white, grey, or black. Reads harsher on warm-toned materials.
  • Matching: Keep every exterior fixture on the same property at one color temperature; a warm porch light beside a cool garage light is the most common outdoor lighting mistake.

By placement:

  • Front entryway: One H16.5" (42cm) on the handle side of a single door, or a pair of either size flanking the door.
  • Porch: The H13.8" (35cm) on the wall beside the door or on porch columns; the downlight lights the floor without shining into eyes at seated height.
  • Garage: A pair of H16.5" (42cm) between or beside garage doors, spaced 8-12 ft (2.4-3.7m) apart on a two-car garage.
  • Patio / deck: H13.8" (35cm) units spaced 8-10 ft (2.4-3m) along the house wall; the shielded downlight keeps glare off the seating area.
  • Side yard / pathway wall: H13.8" (35cm) units at each corner and every 10-12 ft (3-3.7m) along the wall.
  • Covered hallway / breezeway: H13.8" (35cm) units every 8-10 ft (2.4-3m); the IP65 rating handles wind-blown rain in open corridors.
  • Indoor use: Suitable for entry halls and mudrooms with a modern or industrial scheme; the same mounting rules apply.

Mounting height rules (practical)

  • Beside a door: Center the backplate 66"-72" (168-183cm) above the floor or porch surface, roughly at the top third of the door.
  • Garage: Center the backplate 72"-84" (183-213cm) above the driveway so the light clears the top of the car and covers the door face.
  • Patio / pathway wall: Center the backplate 60"-66" (152-168cm) above the ground.
  • Two-story facade: Raise the center to 84"-96" (213-244cm) so the fixture stays in proportion to the wall height.
  • Clearance: Keep 6" (15cm) or more between the frame and door trim, shutters, or gutters.

Placement tips that prevent common mistakes

  • Wall box: The 4.7" × 7.9" (12 × 20cm) backplate covers a standard round or rectangular exterior box; seal the box edge with exterior silicone after mounting.
  • Downlight only: Tivaro throws light downward, not upward; for walls you want lit from ground to eave, choose an up-and-down fixture instead.
  • Spacing: For even coverage, space fixtures at roughly two times the mounting height.
  • Surface: Mount on a flat surface; on lap siding, use a mounting block so the backplate sits level.
  • Output check: 1,100 lumens lights a 6-8 ft (1.8-2.4m) stretch of wall and the ground in front of it; for a full driveway or yard, add pole or flood lighting.

Warm White (3000K) for front entries, porches, and patios on most homes; it flatters brick, stone, stucco, and wood and matches typical landscape lighting. Cool White (6000K) for garages, side yards, and modern white, grey, or black facades where visibility matters more than warmth.

Yes. The IP65 rating means it is sealed against dust and water jets, so rain, snow, fog, and hose spray are fine. Seal the wall box edge with silicone at installation for a fully weatherproof mount.

For a porch, yes; one fixture covers a 6-8 ft (1.8-2.4m) wall section and the floor in front. For a two-car garage, use a pair spaced 8-12 ft (2.4-3.7m) apart. For whole-driveway coverage, add flood or pole lighting.

No bulbs; the LED is integrated. It runs on any standard 90-260V circuit, so it can be wired through an external photocell or timer switch installed by your electrician for automatic dusk-to-dawn operation.

Exactly the coverage we needed

We went back and forth between two sizes for our living room. Sent the room dimensions in and got a straight answer the same day. Installed on a standard 9-foot ceiling with no issues.

Install went smoothly

Two-storey entryway. Our electrician handled the mounting in about two hours. Packaging was serious - every strand wrapped separately, nothing chipped.

Worth the wait

Shipping took longer than I hoped, but it arrived in the window they quoted and the fixture is a lot of presence. Measure carefully first.

Modern Chandelier replied

Thanks Elena - transit on the larger configurations does run to the back half of our stated window. We show the estimate on every product page so there are no surprises.

The questions we hear most

All FAQs →

How do I know what size to order?

Add your room's length and width in feet — that number read as inches is a good target diameter. A 12 × 14 ft room points to roughly a 26″ fixture. Then check your ceiling height, which decides how far it can drop.

Or skip the maths: send us both figures and we will name the exact fixture and size that fits. It is free, it takes a day, and there is no obligation to buy. The size and fit guide covers every rule we work to.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are processed in 2–7 business days, then standard shipping runs 7–20 business days within the US and 7–15 days internationally. Express is 5–11.

Every product page shows an estimate for the size you select, and tracking is sent the moment the fixture ships.

What if it arrives damaged?

Every order ships fully insured, with crystal and glass packed piece by piece in separate compartments.

If something arrives broken, photograph it the day it lands and keep the original carton. We send the replacement part or the whole fixture at our cost — no claim to argue, no return shipping to pay.

Can the drop length be changed?

On adjustable models, yes — and at no extra cost. Send your ceiling height with the order and the suspension is cut before it ships, so your electrician mounts it rather than modifying it on a ladder.

Finish and dimension changes are quoted per project. See customize your light.

Do I need an electrician?

For hardwired fixtures, yes. Mounting hardware and instructions ship with every order; the electrician's time is not included.

One thing worth checking first: a standard US ceiling box supports up to 50 lb. Above that the fixture needs support independent of the box. Every product page lists its weight so your electrician can confirm before the install date.

What is the return policy?

30 days from delivery, unused and in the original packaging. Custom and personalized items are excluded, which is why any custom specification is confirmed in writing before production starts.

A catalogue fixture with a custom drop length is not a custom item — it returns under the normal policy.

Which safety certifications do the fixtures carry?

UL and ETL for the United States and Canada, CE and VDE for Europe, SAA for Australia, plus FCC and ROHS.

Certification documents are available on request for any product — useful if the fixture is going into a permitted job or a commercial space.

Do you work with designers and contractors?

Yes. The trade program covers tiered pricing from 10–25%, priority processing, specification support on plans and elevations, and one account contact across every project.

Applications are reviewed within two business days, and there is no minimum order to apply.

Still deciding?

Send your ceiling height and room dimensions. We will tell you which fixture and size fits — free, with no obligation to buy.
